The Calling
04:49
|
|||
She lures them in
with a song it begins
the ocean calms
and the wind falls silent
They hear in the fog
a music it charms the sailors
rush to the decks
and she’s calling
and she’s calling
Oh oh oh oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Irresistible
The captain cannot turn away
She’s enchanting
and she’s asking
for him to come alone
How he longs
for the warmth of a woman
takes him home
Oh he’s aching
and he’s breaking
Oh oh oh oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
He orders his men
to fill their ears with wax
“And then you must tie me
You must bind me to the mast!”
The sailors obey
The ship it starts to pull away
And she’s crying
And he’s begging
“Let me go!”
Oh oh oh oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh
oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
He struggles enchained
He’s calling after her
Her song its is fading
She stands on the reef
and casts herself into the sea
And she’s drowning
and she’s drowning
And he’s begging
and she’s drowning
and he’s crying
as she’s dying
Oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh

Winter
04:15
|
|||
Caught up for coffee at the corner shop
We had a laugh just like we always have
But I know there was something on your mind
You’ve been acting kind of different now
You touched your hair and you looked to the ground
That was the last time I saw you for a while
Oh its a winter
and it’s taken all your light
You told me not so long ago
You said you want to go traveling
You want to see the world
See the world
But now you’re just like everyone else round here
On a beaten path, and the ice is
oh it’s creeping under your skin
Oh its a winter
and it’s taken all your light
Oh it’s a winter
I can see it in your eyes
And now the days are getting darker
And there’s no colour in the garden at all, no
When the ones I love crumble and fall
I am sick and I’m tired of this cold
How it steals and it scars everyone that I know
Oh its a winter
and it’s taken all your light

The Wrong Side of Blue
06:34
|
|||
I had a friend back in high school
We were close, yeah we used to
walk back to hers and
talk about boys and music
I knew that house like a second home
I learnt guitar on the living room floor
In front of that dusty old TV
Those days are long gone
and I feel like I’m on
the wrong side of blue
I had a crush on her brother
We’d go upstairs under covers
and kiss just the way you do
when you're fourteen
I’d stay up late with her old man
Felt like I could really talk to him
On that moonlit balcony
Some nights he’d get drunk
talking shit, he’d say to much
Tell me all his deep regrets
He made me promise not to tell
And with the eyes of a broken man
He confessed his love for me
Those days are long gone
and I feel like I’m on
the wrong side of blue
Her old man got sick that year
The doctors said too many years
of using, I guess we knew
it was coming
Her sweet sixteen, he wasn't there
Watched his speech on an over-head
She never held my hand so tight
We went out that night
Sinking shots, we both got high
But hell, we danced the night away
Met some guys much older
Now I wish I would have told her ‘no’
I saw her climb into the back of their truck
Those days are long gone
and I feel like I’m on
the wrong side of blue
The house went up on the market
And we threw out all the toys that used to
keep us safe in her big bed
I drive past the gate sometimes
see us hanging christmas lights
but nothing lasts forever
She knows all my fears
and we’ve been holding hands through
all these years
I don’t see her much these days
It’s funny life gets in the way
Coz those days are long gone
and I feel like I’m on
the wrong side of blue
Those days are long gone
and I feel like I’m on
the wrong side of blue
the wrong side of blue

That Old Violin
03:51
|
|||
There was a riddle written in his skin
of a sneaky-eyed snake and an old violin
Fresh out of Pentridge he came to my door
He said ‘I need a woman who knows how to roar’
So we got down to business
with an old fashioned kiss
as slowly he tasted the flesh he had missed
I lifted his shirt, his heart-beat within
Thats where I noticed that old violin
Now I’ve been with gangsters
cheaters and thieves
but I ain’t met a man with a famous mystique
He must of noticed the look on my face
when I saw that fiddle
and that beady-eyed snake
and then Johnny The Killer pushed me on the bed
he said "Darling you wouldn't make a bad man mad!"
He was a viper, yes, he was a snake
and I was the call-girl they found in the lake
But there was no witness to call to the stand
so Johnny he walked, no justice for the dammed, no
But there will be a sentence, that I caught from a syringe
I will be the final song, for that old violin

Meeting With A Stranger
04:00
|
|||
So I’m gonna meet with him tomorrow
Well, I hope that I am not diving in too soon
Still I gotta find some love to borrow
just for the night, and that will be enough for me yeah
oh just for the night
And now I’m waiting at the bar
He introduces himself to me
He tells me I look beautiful
and he asks me what I drink
Sit down, in the corner
I’m trying to think of what to say
and I wish I could tell him
what the hell I’m doing here anyway
Meeting with a stranger
In a strange place
I’m not looking for love
coz loving is much too much for me
You see, I’ve got a lot going on right now
and I don’t need anyone to mess it up for me
And I say, right away to him that
“I like to sleep alone”
and he laughs with a drink in his hand
and he says “baby it’s all good, it's all good"
Take a walk outside
it’s kind of late and its kind of nice
We talk about how our friends are all settling down
He really don't know that much about me
and I really don’t know if there is much to him but
He puts his arms arounds me
and I I give myself to him
To a stranger
in a strange place

Better Somehow
03:42
|
|||
You can show me how to hold a gun
with blank rounds
Take a shot, it makes a hole in me
I hit the ground
Hey now
that’s alright
Hey now
that’s alright
I don’t wanna go to school today
This is not my story
I don’t know who I am
I am down in myself
You know I want to get better somehow
but it’s hard to get out
when your finger’s on the trigger
Hey now
that’s alright
Hey now
that’s alright
I don’t wanna go to school today
This is not my story
I don’t know who I am
and I can’t think with you around
Hey now
that’s alright
Hey now
that’s alright
Hey now
that’s alright
Hey now
that’s alright
